## Definition

Medullary thyroid carcinoma is a rare cancer arising from thyroid C-cells, associated with RET mutations and MEN2 syndrome.

Personal or family history of MTC contraindicates GLP-1 RAs. Rodent studies prompted this precaution; human risk in general population is not established.
